[One Day One] Sort the Candy

Halloween candy sorting is serious business. Favorites form one pile. Tradeable pieces form another. A few items are quietly offered to anyone willing to remove them from the premises.

There is something refreshing about preferences when the stakes are low. Nobody needs a five-year strategic plan to decide between a peanut butter cup and a fruit chew. You notice what you enjoy, make a choice, and move on.

Adult life can make preference feel complicated. We explain what we should like, what is efficient, what looks responsible, or what everyone else chose. Today is a good day to practice noticing a simple want without turning it into a moral decision. Pick the movie, music, snack, route, or small activity you actually prefer. The choice may not change your life. It may simply make a piece of it more yours.

Today’s Prompt

What small choice can you make today based simply on what you genuinely enjoy?
